House of Kindness was the name of the Farm in its early years. In December of 1988, the reporter of the Fantastic show, Helena de Gramont, of Globo network, while making a reporter about the community, said, "We're at Hope Farm."
Spontaneous act of someone who was able to experience all the drama and the struggle of young people to become drug and alcohol free. A true inspiration, which led the founders to take the name: Farm of Hope.
The symbol of the farm consists of two elements: the sun, in the colors of the flag of Brazil, the country where the founders were inspired by God in the elaboration of this method of recovery, and the river, Paraíba do Sul, which symbolizes the blessing of Our Lady. about the charism of Hope.
“Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, because he has visited and delivered his people. He has brought to us a mighty savior in the house of David his servant, as he had promised since ancient times, through the mouth of his holy prophets, to save us from our enemies and from the hands of those who hate us. He was merciful to our fathers: He remembered his holy covenant, and his oath to our father Abraham, to grant us that without fear and free from enemies we may serve him, with holiness and justice, in his presence. every day of our life. And thou, child, shalt be called a prophet of the Most High: for thou shalt go before the Lord, preparing his ways, making known unto his people salvation through the forgiveness of sins, because of the merciful heart of our God, which sendeth the sun. from above to visit us, to illumine those in darkness, in the shadow of death, and to direct our steps in the way of peace. ”
Song of Zechariah (Lc 1, 68-79)
The rays of the sun signify the will of God for each one of us, if we walk in its ray we approach the sun and the other rays, that is, if we follow His will we will be closer to God and at the same time to our brothers.
Drawing inspired by the charisma of the unity of the Focolare Movement, one of the spiritual sources of the Farm of Hope, it represents God who is a source of light and life for all and the Farm with its return to life proposal: a hope placed in God.
"God it is like the sun. Every one of nOnly lightning comes: the divine will upon me ... Úsingle sun vtothe rays, though always rays of the sun. Úonly God, oronly will, vtolaugh at each one, although always God's will". (Chiara Lubich)
It represents the Paraíba do Sul river, which crosses the city of Guaratinguetá, cradle of the first Hope Farm. The river is the same where, in the year of 1717, the miraculous fishing of the image of Our Lady of Aparecida took place. Something that has become very important for the Farm, as it led Pope Benedict XVI to exclaim in his address to the Family of Hope on May 12: “The proximity of the Shrine of Aparecida assures us that the Farm of Hope was born under the your blessings and your motherly gaze. ”
