"It was in this love that Friar Hans invited them to be the rearguard of all the work done on the Farm of Hope. In the power of silent prayer, in fasts and penances, the daughters of St. Clare live the commandment of love for God and for their neighbor. in the supreme gesture of loving to the end, this means never losing hope! Hence the name of this work of Friar Hans: 'Farm of Hope', because it is necessary to build, build hope, weaving the canvas of a society that extending from the threads of life loses its own sense of hope.
This loss - as Paul says - is like a curse that the human person imposes on himself: 'people without affection' (Rom 1,31). Dear sisters, proclaim that “hope does not disappoint” (Rom. 5,5). The pain of the Crucified One, which pierced Mary's soul at the foot of the cross, soothes so many maternal and paternal hearts that they weep in pain for their drug-addicted children. Announce by the offering silence of prayer, the grandiloquent silence that the Father listens to; announce the message of love that overcomes pain, drugs, and death. Announce Jesus Christ, human like us, suffering like us, who took upon us our sins to set us free! "
Pope Bento XVI
