Sanctuary of Hope Celebrates 3 Years

The Sanctuary of Hope celebrates 3 years of existence, and invites you to come visit and get to know the charism of Hope closely.

Sanctuary of Hope Celebrates 3 Years

Inaugurated in the year of 2007 by Pope BentoXVI, the church dedicated to Friar Galvao and Holy Crescence, in 2016 was elevated to Shrine, receiving pilgrims from all over the world. Its tent format welcomes people in a unique way, bringing peace and comfort.

The then Archbishop of Aparecida, Monsignor Raimundo Damasceno, understood that in this church daily miracles happened. Young people who had their lives destroyed by drug slavery, after experimenting with God on the Farm of Hope, were able to give a new direction to their stories.

On January 30 of 2016 the church of Friar Galvao and Holy Crescence was elevated to Sanctuary of Hope. And today, receiving the pilgrims daily brings immense joy to all who are welcomed, it is the opportunity to present the charism of Hope to all who visit us.

Frei Galvão was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI (becoming known as the first Brazilian saint) on 11 May 2007 during his visit to Brazil. Holy Crescence, was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 2001, its origin is the southern region of Germany, the same as Pope Emeritus and for whom he has great devotion.
