Lucas Ricardo Marçal Ramos, 23, a member of the Family of Hope, is the only Brazilian present in the new organization.
In November 2019, the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life established the International Youth Advisory Body, composed of 20 young people from different regions of the world and different movements, associations and international communities. The initiative is the result of a specific request for the Final Document of the Youth Synod held in 2018, which called for the creation of an organization to strengthen the activity of the Office of the Youth Department.
Last Saturday (16) the members met for the first time in an online meeting, with the presence of Cardinal Kevin Farrell, prefect of the Department. Lucas Ricardo, said that in this first meeting, young people could get to know each other better, present expectations and formalize the creation of the Office. "In a particular way, it is another chance we have to take and present our charism as an answer to the Church and the whole society. We are leaving ..." he said.
The chosen young people participated in different moments of the synodal process, such as, for example, the International Youth Forum that the Department organized to promote the implementation of the apostolic exhortation Christus Vivit. From now on, the group will play an important consultative and purposeful role in collaborating with the Department on issues related to Youth Ministry, in addition to other issues.
Lucas Ricardo explains what it's like to be part of this group:
