Most important: be love in the middle in the middle of everyone

I got to know Fazenda da Esperança through a volunteer project called Espalhando Esperança, at a very special moment in my life. In 2014 I was looking for what I would do after studying and found a video of the project on YouTube; that video won my heart and I got in touch via email. The following year I spoke with the person in charge of Finance, and he invited me to participate in a project meeting.

That meeting was very important, because the lifestyle on the Farm marked me a lot. I returned home with the desire to live the Word, and the first experience was washing the dishes instead of my stepfather, which helped me to get closer to him.

The part of the gospel that marked me was: "Go into the world and preach the Gospel to the ends of the earth" (Mk 16,15). I heard this passage from the Word at another meeting, and the priest made an invitation to those who would like to live it. Something told me that I needed to go back to this very special place that I met. A little shy, I raised my hand and started planning to go on a mission in Argentina.

At home, I broke the news to my mother, who said: "If you want to go, get the money and get organized". It was where I saw, in practice, a phrase I heard: "If you love, God manifests". That week, my old boss called and said he needed someone to work.

Then, I told him that I would like to do a volunteer experience, he said: “Work here for a month and I will pay for your tickets to Argentina”. At first, I would be on the mission for four months, but I stayed for a year and a half.

I have been at the Farm for four years following the project, here I found my vocation. I discovered that more important than being loved, is to be love among people. This discovery makes me stay today at Fazenda da Esperança.
